ENGLISH LIT 7 — All students will complete a full year of literature-based coursework. Literature selections include short stories, novels, non-fiction, and drama with the focus on reading skills and writing instruction as well as grammar, vocabulary, listening, and speaking. This course is aligned with and incorporates the California Common Core Standards.
 
ENGLISH LIT 7 HONORS — This class is available for students identified as G.A.T.E. by the Brea Olinda Unified School District. All students will complete a full year of literature-based coursework. Literature selections include short stories, novels, non-fiction, and drama with the focus on reading skills and writing instruction as well as grammar, vocabulary, listening, and speaking. This course is aligned with and incorporates the California Common Core Standards. Honors students can expect an accelerated pace and more rigorous literature selection.
 
ENGLISH LIT 8 — Literature is used as a basis for integrating the instruction of reading, writing, critical thinking, listening, and speaking. Core texts are paired with short stories, poetry, non-fiction, and internet research to stimulate extended thinking and analysis. Cross-curricular and Character Education activities are also taught as vital components of the learning process throughout the year. This course is aligned with and incorporates the California Common Core State Standards.
