Physical Education

 
COED PHYSICAL EDUCATION  – This course provides students the opportunity to learn through a developmentally appropriate, comprehensive sequentially planned physical education program aligned with the Physical Education Model Content Standards for California Public Schools. Content standards emphasize meeting challenges and making decisions as well as working as a team to solve challenges.  The application of self-responsibility, positive social interaction in group dynamics is highly stressed during this course.  Physical education classes are separated into seventh and eighth-grade classes. 
 
PE – 7TH GRADE – Seventh-grade curriculum includes the execution of mature movement patterns and knowledge of individual and dual physical activities. Students are required to track their physical fitness and performance by maintaining a fitness log. All students are expected to contribute to a positive environment by striving to fulfill their potential and encouraging others to do the same.
 
PE – 8TH GRADE – Eighth-grade curriculum builds upon seventh-grade curriculum and includes applying locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative skills to team-based activities. Students are required to track their physical fitness and performance by maintaining a fitness log. All students are expected to model a positive attitude toward individuals of all ability levels and encourage others.
