BREA JUNIOR HIGH
ENGLISH 7A, MATH 7A, AND BOBCAT ACADEMY
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year and our great adventure with Distance Learning!
I am Mrs. Hobby, and I am excited to begin my second year serving as an Education Specialist at Brea Jr. High, and my fourth year with BOUSD. I have been a Brea resident for the past 18 years. My husband and I have 3 children, including a current BOHS senior, a BOHS Class of 2020 graduate, and a senior at Cal State Fullerton. We also have a 9 year-old Terrier-mix dog, named Molly.
My educational background includes graduating from Los Alamitos High School, obtaining a B.A. in Sociology from UCLA, and a Masters of Special Education, along with a Mild/Moderate teaching credential from National University. At Brea Junior high, you might find me in Room F-38 teaching English 7, Math 7, or Bobcat Academy, or in the Learning Center in Room M-20 supporting students and their academic success.
A few of my favorite past times include reading, spending time with my family, and staying active. I also enjoy dance and music, and watching my all-time favorite Olympic sport, gymnastics. As a former gymnast, I can't help but try some of those skills ... don't tempt me to demonstrate!
Philosophies that I live by are diverse, but for now I will focus on these words from a cherished song: "And when you get the choice to sit out or dance ... I hope you dance". These words speak to my strong belief that every individual should seize opportunities to engage in and experience life. There's so much to see and do, and we each have a purpose to fulfill.
I look forward to working with each and everyone of my students and families this school year. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to say "Hello".
Let's make this academic year a great year of working and growing together!
