Meet the Teacher

How did I get to Brea Junior High? 

I completed my training to be a Speech and Language Pathologist in London, UK, and worked within the NHS (National Health Service); specializing in the educational needs of students with profound and multiple disabilities. In 2006 I decided I wanted to travel, and moved to California, where I have worked in Non Public School settings, until last school year.

I continued my career in Special Education, becoming an Educational Specialist in 2014; working with moderate to severe special needs, predominantly with children with Emotional and Developmental Disorders. I have found it hard to leave California, and now limit my traveling to holidays and vacations. ….I mean who can leave this weather?!

Last summer I was invited to join the SPED team here at BOUSD, and I made the move from Los Angeles to Orange County. I am enjoying the endless views of the hills and and happy to be out of city life and closer to my family who also live here. 

Futures Jr was established in January 2019 and I took over the reins in August 2019. As we all know the 2019-20 school year didn’t quite go as planned. However,  I feel very lucky that I can “graduate” with the students and continue what we started. I am excited to add new faces and start on this new adventure together.
