my name is Stone and I'll be sharing some Google slides for this math a class okay once again welcome to back to school night video format a class teaching at Brea junior high for 16 years and I love teaching math every year discourse where is the California common core grade 8 math standards and the topics covered in this course include rational numbers exponents and scientific notations proportional and non-proportional relationships and functions statistics and as well as linear equations this course is designed for all eighth-graders who want to take algebra in 9th grade should have responsibilities are be on time to class and have all the appropriate materials out and students are to turn in all their completed homework assignment the beginning of class and check in print out as needed only any missing assignments from Google classroom in case if student was absent and obviously I'm here to help you so please encourage them I'll ask for help if they are not sure what anyting for this class I strongly encourage the students to keep a man folder in there on the students can keep all their class notes activities homework assignments quizzes and tests which will help them to to revisit when they're doing their homework and also to study and prepare for the test and students need to bring some papers and want to read pan from time to time we do greater a lot of papers in this class using a rib pain and multiple pencils most of all the work will be done in pencil chickens need to bring a calculator it doesn't have to be anything fancy but just any basic 5 function later he's needed for this class and also textbook and workbook his friends homework and classwork goes they will be graded on completeness and Deptford the students will receive two points if they turn in completed work with mostly correct answers and students will receive one point if they turned completely work with just a little or some correct answers and only time there will get zero is either data complete at all or they didn't turn it in she does must show all work using pencil unless otherwise noted and it is really on the show their work while they're doing their work I mean math work all assignments start turned in on the due date unless a student was absent in any time a student was absent they get to make up their homework it will be a full credit and I accept late work for half credit anytime so make sure that they did turn it in on before the end of the quarter there will be a quiz on just about one to two weeks and there will be at either test or a project at the end of each unit 30% of their Grace come from homework and classwork and 70% of their Grace come from test quizzes and project and all the scores will be recorded and updated daily basis of no later than 4:00 you'll be able find their own their daily homework credit on Parent Portal strongly encourage parents to check out their Parent Portal 2 on a regular basis to monitor is progress and best way to contact me in history email and I'll try my best to reply within 24 hours thank you for watching back to school night video
